I grew up in McCauleyville, MN, a small town fifteen miles north of Breckenridge, MN and attended both elementary and high school in Breckenridge, graduating in 1987. Following my graduation I attended Moorhead State University and attained by bachelor's degree in social studies education in 1992.
My first teaching experience was at Watertown, SD High School as a high school social studies teacher. The following year I accepted a job in Aberdeen, SD in an alternative learning center and spent the next eight years there. In 2002, we (my wife and three kids at the time) made the decision to move back to the twin-town area. When our youngest child entered kindergarten in 2012, I had a decision to make. Should I go back to teaching or expand on the video editing business I had started while staying at home with our children. When a junior high social studies position opened at St. Mary's, I applied and a short time later accepted the position. This is the position I was in before accepting the principal position in 2019.
My wife Christy and I have been married for twenty-nine years and have three daughters and one son. Our youngest daughter (and only one still at home) is a sophomore. In our free time we enjoy spending time with family (especially with our granddaughter, Jade), attending sporting events, and being involved with various community and parish organizations.
